Basketball Tooth Incisal Fracture- By Thomas W. Mitchell, DDS, FAGD

Introduction:

From today my 5'11" basketball player took a charge last night. Thankfully the gym had a tooth shaped box to store the piece. He put it in milk. It's only cold sensitive today.

Nice clean break. Don't know where the photo of the fx'd piece went.

From the incisal there's lots of pink but no exposure. X-ray looks normal

I placed Teflon around 7 and 9. Then did Clean and Boost, Surpass 1,2,3 on the broken piece and light cured it with the Valo light on XTRA POWER for 3 seconds. Then Clean and Boost, Surpass 1,2,3 and Titan A2 Flowable on the tooth, squished the piece into place and blasted with the Valo light.

Had to do a little disking but sure felt stable.

Conclusion:

Time will tell and we gave him all the warnings. Saw one of these last week that had been in place for about 10 years, so I'm hopeful.
