#8 and #9 Incisal Edge Repair- By Thomas W. Mitchell, DDS, FAGD

Introduction: 

When restoring these worn incisal edges try to take a few years off the tooth and recreate as much thickness to the edge as you can. These restorations are under tons of abuse so we know they'll wear out, but with some thickness they last a lot longer.

#9 had been restored before in 2011 but I didn't really add much thickness to it then and now she's wiped it out.

I placed a 4 tooth dam with no clamp (no anesthetic), just some floss ties, prepped and placed a Garrison Blue plastic matrix held on with a white Wave Wedge. Then Clean & Boost, Surpass 1,2,3 with co-cured Titan A2 flowable on the gingival. Then shaped anterior composite with Seamfree. Removed everything, adjusted occlusion and sealed the restoration with Surpass.

We didn't add much to the facial surface or any length to the incisal edge.

Conclusion: 

It's really simple to add some thickness as long as the adjacent teeth stay in contact in protrusive. Hopefully this will last her longer than the first one, or as long as she needs it.
