did you say that interface will create a bond to zirconia type crowns (lava, cercon etc)? If you did say that this occurs, is there a cement that is best used to bond this type of crown in?

It does, and as well as anything else does if not better. What I will work on is how strong for how long. It's tough because you can't easily get samples to embed and test.

It is exactly 1 year later on this thread and a question about bonding to a zirconia abutment came up. JK, I was wondering if you were ever able to test the bond to find out how stong and how long it is?

We did zorconia adhesion tests. The actual SBS results are at JK's office. I don't recall the exact numbers but they were acceptable and then some!

3M states that it won't harm Lava. I know of a feew stuies which suggest sandblasting can cause microcracks, but I know of no clinical studies which support the contention. What's interesting is that thus far I cannot discern much difference between sandblasting (no matter what size particle) and not sandblasting.

i would like to know as well.
i have an implant case coming in today and my assistant asked if i want to use interface and i havent read anything yet that absolutely states whether interface makes a difference - from what i understand you cant bond to zirconia.
therefore i have been using relyx luting plus for all my zirconia (lava) copings.
i figure jk will "learn" me, so thanks in advance!!!!
take care,
d

Yes, but I cannot remember what it is offhand. I'll seek them out when I get home from Utah.
