John, are you still recommending not removing the deepest portion of decay to avoid pulp exposure? In these cases are you then using only Simplicity over the deepest portion, or are you using a "base" material?

I will not expose a pulp if at all possible. I will stop and seal it over using Simplicity and a flowable. This is dependent, of course, on the absence of symptoms and radiographic findings.

I don't use any base material but it's OK if you do. It doesn't matter one way or the other. Getting it sealed well matters.

Thank you John. That's what I've been doing with One Step Plus. Only problems I've had is when the xray shows decay to the pulp and/or symptoms.

re symptoms
If I don't diagnose irreversible pulpitis then I USUALLY treat as John describes. John & others, do you do the same ?
