I am treating a 12 yo girl with ameliogenesis Imperfecta. Her premolars are devoid of enamel and the dentin is fairly soft. My plan is to do a wax up, make a copyplast and do direct bonded composite crowns. I will be microetching the teeth, applying a thin layer of flowable and locking on either warmed filtek supreme light cured composite, dual cure buildup material or biocryl temporary material. I use Surpass as my bonding agent. The dentin appears soft enough where I am concerned about my long term bond.

Does anyone have experience with using Surpass bonding system on teeth like this? Does anyone have any additional suggestions as to how they would treat these teeth? Thanks in advance!

Apply the Surpass, allowing a long time for the Surpass 2 to soak in, then DRY it as much as possible. It will help reinforce the softened dentin.

I have treated numerous AI cases. They're not easy.

Thank you Dr Kanca! I did as you instructed. Why does it help to leave the Surpass 2 longer?
On a separate note, I have wondered the pH of 38% phosphoric acid? I can't seem to find this and have lost enough of my high school chemistry to be able to calculate it myself? Thanks again!

I'd leave it on to allow real saturation into the porous tooth structure. The pH of H3PO4 is about 0.1 depending on a couple of factors
