I just did the crunching of a month old set of Simplicity samples which were dried for ten seconds prior to application of Simplicity. The range was from 41.2 to 62.4 mPa, with five of them over 50 mPa. I'd say that drying is most certainly the thing to do. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I've been using Simplicity from the beginning....who knows how many restorations! No sensitivity....nada....zilch....zippo! We've been doing the 10 second drying routine since John came up with the idea a month or so ago...also with NO sensitivity.

This stuff "might" work!

That's okay, he deserves it anyway.
He forced me to write it or else he said that he wouldn't be my friend anymore. Wink

Hi John,
Just thought I'd chime in on the 10 sec drying of the prep before Sim placement. As you already know, I've NOT experienced any sensitivity either. Great work, thanks.

Regards,
Paul

Dry, Dry, Dry. Sure no sensitivity in my hands after over 70 cases. BUT I saw Dr. III get over 60 mPa in vitro after 2 hours & I the best I can get is only 50+ mPa! We'll see what happens this Wed when my 24 hour samples get tested.

John,
Wow. 60mPa. I've been drying also and things have been fine. Just out of curiosity, how strongly is enamel attatched to the dentin? Has this been measured?
Also, in the studies are you bonding to enamel, dentin or both?

It depends on how it is measured, and it is difficult to measure. The enamel tends to fracture before one can really get a number. It is really high.

Has this been measured? Not well.

Also, in the studies are you bonding to enamel, dentin or both?

Both for sure, and Simplicity gets better than control (etch, rinse, some enamel bond)
