Well, I guess that about ends my use of Simplicity...
I has switched to Surpass for everything except for Class 1 and 2's.
Now if I am going to use Surpass to finish them at the end anyway, I might as well have it out for the bonding steps...
I did it on a second patient after my first post and I Love this technique. I like not having to remove the residue from polishing like rubber point dust, Enhance dust, etc..!! _________________ Take Care...Howard

Simplicity 2 on anterior composites and not following with PermaSeal has worked beautifully for several years. Now that just about everything is bonded with Surpass things should be even better & easier! Initially Surpass alone on posteriors looks great. _________________ Gerry |

By initially you mean the 5 teeth on 3 people that I did today, I agree, it does look great!!!
Better initial results than I got with polishing and Protect-It. _________________ Take Care...Howard

Do all you guys use new brushes for each step??? I am going through brushes like crazy. could you not just dry off the sur 1 brush and use it for the sur 2? The sur 3 always seems to cure on mine so I cannot reuse it . This is not a cheap thing, my dental assistant's is getting pissed at me having so many applicators around. |

New brushes each time for Surpass 2 & 3; 2 may not be necessary but I feel safer. 1 I reuse for later steps. Yeah - We just ran out of blue brushes! _________________ Gerry |

so is that No you can't reuse brushes or No you can?
I've been re-using for teeth in separate areas (on the same patient) and haven't seen any problems....?? _________________ Jason Luchtefeld, DMD, FAGD

That's not what he asked. Re-using on same patient is no problem. I find that the blue brush will harden in the light but that's part of the magic of the system. _________________ "You need me on that wall."

If you have the patient lick them clean, I see no reason why they cannot be used on multiple patients.....

Let me see if I have got this straight.
You don't recommend using the same brush for Surpass 1,2 and 3? Even blotting the brush after Sur 1? How about the same brush for Sur 2 and 3? The correct protocol would be a fresh brush for Sur 1,2 and 3? (Which is what I currently do.) And yes you could use the Sur 1 or Sur 2 brush again to apply that liquid on the same patient.
Is that also true for Simplicity? Fresh brush for Sim 1 and 2? |

There are color coded brushes and tips for part of each product and they are there for a reason.

Haven't seen anything on the time and money saved by using an adhesive (Surpass) that works long term and adheres to everything (dentin, enamel, Chem cure, Dual cure, Light cure) with amazing strength! If that's not enough of a savings how about soaking the brushes in alcohol or acetone washing them off and sneaking them back into the box for use on the next patient.
BTW I no longer have a problem with part 3 polymerizing on the blue brush! _________________ Gerry |
