When you choose to open a dental magazine, what would you choose to read and why?
Thanks! _________________ "You need me on that wall."

I personally like to read about doctors that share techiques on procedures that I enjoy doing or want to learn more about. I hate to admit this but I have a tough time getting through a lot of research articles. I wait for smart guys like you to give me the cliff notes. _________________ Rich (cool kid) Rosenblatt

It has to be an article that is relevant to how I practice. Then I look at the author and his/her experience in the area. |

In which magazines? Not research- trades.
We're trying to figure out where ad dollars would be best spent. _________________ "You need me on that wall."

I like Kugel's Inside Dentistry. I look at things in Dentistry Today and Practical Procedures & Aesthetic Dentistry. |

leave it to me. In a serious answer, I read PPAD and Dentistry Today. I think they have the articles that are most interesting to me. _________________ Rich (cool kid) Rosenblatt

Do you spend anytime reading the ads or review the ads? |

I do. Not all, those that pertain to my style of practice. |

certain things about ads catch my eye. Things like interesting contraptions for procedures that I'm doing to make them easier. Seeing the face of a person that I respect in an ad will get me to read it many times. Since most of us bond, most will likely read the ad. Any thoughts as to what you'd like to put in it to catch the eye of laymen like me? _________________ Rich (cool kid) Rosenblatt

I almost never even notice the ads. I leaf through the articles, rarely finding anything worth serious consideration. I only read in depth if I respect the author, or if the subject matter seems relevant to my practice (a rarity). As far as which magazines, I browse all the free crap that comes to my door. In that you are looking for guidance, I would say using John's name and face as much as possible is your best bet. Long before I used any of Apex's products, I knew OF John Kanca. Had I come across an article or an ad with his name on it, this would have prompted me to pay attention. In fact, it's why I use Sim and Anchor. Had John's name not been attached to them, I'd be using something else. I would have John publish his findings with these products and compare them to the other bonding agents. Then I would blanket all the periodicals, if possible. I can't overstate how important it would be to have John's name plastered all over the article. Name recognition is everything. John's got it. Apex does not. Find a way to make Apex synonymous with John Kanca. Hope I have been of some help. Sometimes I wonder if I just like to yap. BEST OF LUCK. PHIL |

I generally stopped reading the trade magazines when I found Dentaltown, (and now Apex Forum). I'll browse through them occasionally and read the odd clinical article now and then. I completely and totally ignore any ads. _________________ No, Donny, these men are nihilists, there's nothing to be afraid of.... |
