Title: Long term bond strength evaluation of a novel adhesive system.
Objective: The purpose of this study was a longitudinal investigation of the dentin bond strength stability of a no-rinse bonding system.
Methods: 50 human dentin specimens were mounted in acrylic cylinders with a 1 inch diameter and divided into groups of ten each. Four groups were treated with the resin adhesive Surpass. A reference group was treated with Optibond FL. Composite (Z100) posts with a 2.38 mm diameter were attached and the samples were stored in water at 37 degrees C for varying periods. The samples were stressed to failure in a Universal testing machine with a notched shear blade at a speed of 1 mm/min. The Optibond FL reference group was tested at 24 hours. (Op1) The Surpass groups were tested at 24 hours (Su1), 3 months (Su2), one year (Su3) and at three years (Su4).

Results

Mean MPa (SD)

Op1: 51.9 (5.1) Su1: 58.3 (3.2) Su2: 57.4 (6.2) Su3: 55.5 (3.6) Su4: 54.6 (3.0)

Conclusion: The novel resin adhesive is shown to maintain high and stable dentin bond strengths for up to three years.

I did them.

Numbers will very from day to day and certainly fomr person to person. The numbers on the website are real and were done in the lab bu more than one person.

I chose not to use the higest ever numbers for Surpass. The numbers I did use are repeatable anywhere- and have been repeated at UNC, Tufts and CRA. The numbers for OFL could be much lower, depending on who does them. They were much lower at UNC. I am doing my best to be fair.
