Will this technique by Bill Strupp affect bond strengths of Surpass?
I do not understand how this works when NaOCl binds with CHX. Also reading article Bui et.al J Endod 2008;34:181-185 recently about use of NaOCL with EDTA then CHX in RCT's creates a precipitate that cover dentine tubules affecting root canal sealers.
Is the isopropyl before bonding enough to be bacterio-cidal? Or do you advocate CHX scrub aswell?

Strupp bases all of that one study by Pappas. I actually tried to reproduce it without success, but then I know All Bond 2 far better than does Pappas. I think it's overkill. Millions of restorations work without it all the time. It's hard to imagine any of that surface effort remaining after blasting it with H3PO4.

H3PO4 is bacteriocidal and so is Surpass 1. So is the alcohol in Surpass 2.

The use of CHX and/or alcohol prior to Surpass 1 is reasonable. The Bui article raises a lot of questions. Does a precipitate form when used simultaneously or consecutively? I suspect that the precipitate might be solubilized in acid, but until the effects are known caution is indicated.
