Why do so many think that really white high value crowns that don't match anything in the mouth are so nice?

Is it the low translucency of Emax that gives this effect? I hear they are releasing an HT version too.

If I'm truly honest I probably get the hue/value/chroma right about 40% of the time. Shade matching is so difficult!

Yes, the high opacity is the problem.

Shade matching is difficult. Do you have a Vita 3D shade guide?

Yep. And a trueshade. Still find it very difficult! Especially since the blocks I use use the traditional shade guide!

Hints and tips? Or do I have to wait til March?

I've heard good things about the easyshade. It's only a problem further back in the mouth for me. All anterior restorations go to the lab for a custom shade. Every single one. That way if it's wrong I can blame someone else Razz

The very first thing to do at prep appointment is get a shade.

Have the staff also choose separately, then review the choices.

The True Shade has been quite useful.
