Thinning Surpass & gingival health
Any restoration but obviously the class V composite is what I notice that inspires this question.
Sometimes at a recall visit I will notice that obviously I have left too thick a layer of the final sealant, which for me is the whole sequence Surpass 1, 2, 3 light cure. Of course at the recall visit it can be scaled away. And although it does not appear to be a plaque trap it does seem that the gingiva is a little irritated.
Am I correct that this is just a matter of not thinning the materials enough with air? Which is kind of odd because I really do thin well especially when it is the final sealant.
Do you guys make an effort to do something after you seal a class V composite? Does anyone else see that maybe there exists a layer of cured Surpass at a future visit?

Related question about thinning Surpass: I saw John online with Howard Farran doing a CE-type discussion & the topic of Surpass came up. I thought I heard John say that he also thins Surpass 3 as much as possible? Maybe I misheard but is that correct? I know to do that with Surpass 2 but was under the impression that so long as Surpass 3 is not pooling/too thick that just about any thickness is okay for Surpass 3? Should we also make an effort to thin Surpass 3 like we do Surpass 2?
Thanks

Yes. Thin out Surpass 3 as much as you can. Then the excess will not be a problem.
